Terms of Use

Effective 20 August 2026 · Written to be read.

1. What Source Playbook is

Source Playbook is an independent, Luxembourg-based platform that ranks and explains public open source projects and provides free browser tools. Source Playbook is not affiliated with GitHub, Inc., and does not host or distribute the code of the projects it describes.

2. Using the site and tools

The rankings, collections, guides, and the PDF to Markdown converter are free to use. You agree not to abuse them — no scraping at volumes that degrade the service, no attempts to break the tools, no unlawful use. The converter processes your files in your own browser; you remain fully responsible for the documents you convert and for the rights attached to them.

3. Editorial content and data

Project figures come from the public GitHub API and can lag or contain upstream errors; rankings are provided “as is”, for information, and are not advice. Explanations are Source Playbook’s own editorial writing. Each project remains governed by its own license, which you must check on the official repository before using it — especially commercially. Trademarks and project names belong to their owners.

4. Sponsored content

Paid placements are always labeled “Sponsored”. Editorial coverage and ranking positions are not for sale.

5. Submissions

When you submit a project or a message, you grant Source Playbook the right to review it and, if accepted, to write and publish original editorial content about the project. Submission creates no obligation of placement.

6. Liability

Source Playbook provides the site and tools free of charge and without warranty. To the extent permitted by Luxembourg law, Source Playbook is not liable for indirect damages arising from the use of the site, the tools, or the projects described. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.

7. Changes and law

We may update these terms; the effective date above changes when we do, and material changes are announced in the changelog. These terms are governed by Luxembourg law.
