About
Open source runs the world.
Most people can’t read it.
Every day, projects worth learning appear on GitHub — tools that save companies millions, ideas that become industries. And almost all of it is written for engineers, by engineers. If you studied business, design, or anything else, the door looks closed.
Source Playbook opens it. We rank public GitHub projects by real traction signals, then explain each one in plain English: what it does, who it’s for, why it matters, what you could build with it. No jargon, no hype, no invented numbers.
How the ranking works
A robot collects public data from the GitHub API every day — stars, forks, activity, creation dates — and keeps its own snapshots so growth is computed from observed history, never estimated. Rankings list the most-starred repositories created in each window (day, week, month). Archived repositories and forks are excluded. The full method is on the Trending page.
How Source Playbook sustains itself
Today, it does not. Source Playbook carries no advertising and sells no placement. The free tools — PDF to Markdown, HEIC to PDF — and the daily ranking are what bring people back, and that is the whole model for now. What we do not do: sell editorial coverage, harvest the documents you convert, or track you across the web. The privacy policy is short because there is little to disclose.
Independence
Source Playbook is an independent platform based in Morocco. We are not affiliated with GitHub, and we never host or redistribute the code we rank — every card links to the official repository, where the project’s license and authors live.
